Marxism is one of the most dangerous worldviews that we as Christians face today. The reason that Marxism is so powerful and dangerous is that it is very aggressive and revolutionary. It demands complete and selfless sacrifice of those who wish to perpetrate it. The Marxist, like the Christian, believes in something. He believes in the work of world communism. The Christian believes in reaching the world with the gospel.
The ideology of Marxism is insanely popular because it has an answer for the world's problems. It promises to give universal peace and prosperity. The idea of this global utopia was not necessarily birthed with Karl Marx, but was refined and honed to become what we call Marxism. It is the idea that world peace can be achieved thorough two measures. The abolishment of religion; and the abolishment of the free-market economy commonly known as Capitalism. Indeed, Marx himself said that his goal in life was to "dethrone God, and destroy Capitalism". The Marxist is convinced that the world's problems are simply causes of the free-market economy. This is what leads them to believe that to do away with Capitalism is to do away with the world's problems.
While along this path to Utopia, the Communist/Marxist revolution must take on three phases; 1) The elimination of old order. This is what we have seen in communist nations they overthrow the government and cripple the assets. 2) The establishment, by a working class of a dictatorship. This is supposed to be a dictator who is benevolent and cares about the people. 3) The final transition from socialism to Communism. Many people when they hear of Marxism, or communism, they think it simply means a dictatorship. In reality, the Communists ultimate plan is to overthrow all forms of government, leaving society in one blissful Utopia where everyone is adequately provided for, and completely happy. This supposed final stage, as seen in all the Communist countries come and gone, has never come.
The society always ends up in war, hate, and ultimately poverty. The Communist idea has never amounted to anything but pain and heartache. This "revolutionary" idea of communism is doomed from the start and will never amount to anything worthwhile.
