New Age

One statement that a New Age Humanist would be very likely to say is "I think Christians are judgmental and intolerant". Well thank you. Let's take a longer look at this statement. First, notice the word, 'judgmental'. The meaning for the word 'judgment' is, by definition, "a divine sentence or decision, specifically: a calamity held to be sent by God". Christians do wield the power of God. They do not have the power to judge. The only way that one could even suggest that Christians are judgmental, or that they judge people, is a cause of the Holy Spirit within them. Christians are to reflect Jesus Christ. When they do, they are a light. The light of the Holy Spirit convicts men of sin. This is not the judgment of the Christian person, but rather, it is a byproduct of the Holy Spirit living inside of them.

Intolerant? Christians are not intolerant. To be intolerant means to be unwilling to grant or share social, religious or political rights. Christians are called upon by God to "love our enemies". Christians should model their behavior after Christ, who, incidentally, taught that we should love our neighbor as our self, turn the other cheek, feed the poor, and so on. Anyone who says that Christians are intolerant is either intolerant himself, or, simply does not know what Christianity really is.
