moving
no matter how hard i try,
i always let down those i love.
can't ever seem to do it right,
that which is always perfect.
been trying for what seems like eons
to please, to perfect, to be,
better, stronger, faster.
perhaps once in this vast eternity,
in this unshifting time,
i'll get it right, i'll get it perfect.
so it seems, when the day comes,
no one will notice,
no one will care,
only i, only in my mind,
will take time to notice,
time to care.
with newfound knowledge,
what is to try,
why continue,
in this endless pursuit,
of what is really nothing,
in the end?
so i stop.
stop moving,
stop pushing,
stop trying,
and they hate that too.

... That makes me laugh. Don't take that the wrong way--it wasn't that it was bad or anything, but I have kind of a morbid sense of humor, so I find some depressing things funny like, for example, Marvin, or this poem.
"and they hate that too." That's funny and true. Can't please everyone; sometimes can't please anyone. I totally understand that sentiment. Many of my songs are equally depressing. With that said, have a nice day; don't panic.

As usual, I am speechless in the face of poetry--I never know what to say; I like it but can't find words to say what it makes me feel!
The irony of the last line is really . . . stark. but true. I used to feel this way, too. Still do sometimes (more often than I prob want to think about), but
"perhaps once in this vast eternity,
in this unshifting time,
i'll get it right, i'll get it perfect."
the one perfect person the world ever saw was crucified. His perfection still offends many people. And He is the one that has declared us to be pleasing to Him. He traded with us, giving us His perfection to wear and taking our stupidity and sin and . . . everything we were that we shouldn't be and wished we weren't (and even the parts we wanted to be but knew we shouldn't be). And He has promised that we will be like Him.
uh-oh, don't get me started! I'll be POSTING instead of commenting pretty soon! And it's not even my blog =)
I like your poem. THanks for sharing it.
