I'm no expert on songwriting, but I've probably written more songs than your average Joe and I'd have to somewhat agree with you. The lyrics are much better... except the chorus. I can't stand songs that say things like, "I'll spread my wings and I'll learn how to fly" and such. It's so overused and poppy sounding. The verses show more artistry, though. Maybe I'll put some of my song lyrics on my blog sometime...
