The main difference between the Christian's idea of man and the Pagan's idea of man is that one is comprised of truth and the other is comprised of lies. One very important difference between the two is how they look at man's status in life. The pagan views man as inherently "good" when in fact; he is a sinner who sins by default. The other main difference I think deserves mentioning, is the dangerous idea that man evolved and happened simply by chance, when in reality, he was created by a loving God who wants to fellowship with him.
Christian Self Government is very important to Civil Liberty. Without Christian self-government, there is no Civil Liberty. When a person is governed by Christian self-government, God governs him. When one is not governed by God he is governed by his own selfish desires. To have a truly harmonious society, all the citizens must govern themselves according to God's laws. When they do, the society will function as God originally intended. To be a good civil leader, one must be a good leader in his own personal life.
Ultimate Intention controls the way a person's entire life is lived. To have the Ultimate Intention of serving the Lord Jesus Christ, all a person's actions will reflect his ultimate intention. Likewise, when one refuses to serve God, but instead labors away at his own selfish needs and desires, we can conclude that his ultimate intention is to serve himself and get his own desires in life met. Sometimes we may think that we can serve God and ourselves but the Bible tells us otherwise. "… You cannot serve God and Mammon…" The Bible teaches us that as Christians, our ultimate intention should be to serve our Lord.
The Governments role, concerning private property, is to protect and defend. Too many times the government tries regulating or controlling private property. The Bible teaches that the role of civil government is to protect, and defend society, not regulate or fix its problems.
The American concept of local self-government puts responsibility on the shoulders of the local townships, preventing the need for big government, and protecting the freedom of the people. In short, when government stays local, the people keep their freedom, when government goes national, the people lose their freedoms.
